22Play is a collection of classic games like Ludo, Chess, Domino and Sudoku that families play together. Many of our players are children, and we take that responsibility seriously. This policy explains how 22Service FZ-LLC ("22Service", "we", "us") applies age restrictions and protects children who use 22Play. It forms part of our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
1. Who this policy covers
In this policy, a "child" means a player under 13 years old, or under a higher age where local law sets a higher age for consent to data processing (for example, up to 16 in some countries of the European Union). We refer to players between that age and 18 as "teens".
2. Content rating
All games in 22Play are suitable for all ages. They contain no gambling with real money, no real-money prizes, no violent or sexual content, and no user-generated content other than in-game chat in standard mode for older players.
3. How we check age
- When 22Play is opened for the first time, we ask the player to enter their age (or year of birth) in a neutral way that does not encourage a false answer.
- If the player is a child, 22Play switches on Kid Mode automatically.
- The age answer is stored on the device. Changing it to leave Kid Mode requires a parental check (for example, solving a simple adult-level question) and a waiting period.
- Parents can also turn Kid Mode on for any player from Settings → Kid Mode, protected by the same parental check.
4. What Kid Mode does
- Every game is available. Children can play all games offline, on one phone with a friend, or against the computer.
- No free-text chat. In online matches, children can only send ready-made messages such as "Good game!" or "Your turn". Nothing a child types is sent to anyone.
- Private online play by default. Children can join friends using a room code. Public quick-match with strangers is turned off unless a parent enables it, and even then only ready-made messages are available.
- Safe nicknames and avatars. Children choose from a list of generated nicknames and preset avatars rather than typing their own, so they cannot share personal information through their profile.
- No personalised ads. We do not collect or use advertising identifiers in Kid Mode. Any ads shown come only from ad networks certified for child-directed content, with interest-based targeting and remarketing turned off.
- No links out. Children are not shown links to websites, social media or other apps without first passing a parental check.
- Purchases behind a parental gate. Any in-app purchase screen is protected by a parental check, and all payments also go through Apple's or Google's own parental controls.
- No location, contacts, camera or microphone. 22Play does not request these permissions.
5. Information we collect from children
We collect only what is needed to run the games and keep them safe:
- the age answer, used only to apply Kid Mode;
- the selected preset nickname and avatar, for online play;
- game moves, results and the ready-made messages selected during online matches;
- technical information such as device type, app version, a random app-install identifier, IP address (for connecting matches) and crash reports, used only to operate, secure and fix the app (internal operations).
We do not knowingly collect a child's real name, email address, phone number, home address, photos, voice, precise location or advertising ID. We do not build advertising profiles of children and we never sell or share children's personal information for advertising.
If a parent emails us on a child's behalf, we use the parent's email only to respond and delete it once the request is closed.
6. If we learn we have collected more than we should
If we discover that we have collected personal information from a child beyond what is described above, without the required parental consent, we will delete it promptly. If you believe this has happened, please contact [email protected].
7. Teens
Players between the child age threshold and 18 use standard mode with additional defaults:
- chat filtering is set to the strictest level and cannot be lowered;
- personalised ads are off unless the teen (and, where required by law, a parent) gives consent;
- teens can mute, block and report any player at any time.
8. Rights of parents and guardians
As a parent or guardian, you can:
- review the information we hold about your child;
- ask us to correct or delete it, and to stop any further collection;
- turn Kid Mode on, or manage its settings, from Settings → Kid Mode;
- delete all of your child's online data from Settings → Privacy → Delete my data, or by uninstalling the app (which removes offline data stored on the device).
To make a request, email [email protected] with the player ID shown under Settings → About in your child's app. We may ask for reasonable information to confirm you are the child's parent or guardian. We respond within 30 days, or sooner if the law requires.
9. Safety and reporting
Every online match has a Report button. Our team reviews reports and may restrict or remove players who break our rules. Where we believe a child may be at risk of harm, we will act immediately and, where appropriate, report the matter to law enforcement or child-protection authorities.
If you are worried about your child's safety on 22Play, contact [email protected]. If a child is in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services first.
10. Tips for parents
- Keep Kid Mode on for younger players and only enable public quick-match if you are comfortable with it.
- Turn on purchase approval in Apple's Screen Time or Google Family Link.
- Talk with your child about never sharing personal information with people they meet online.
- Encourage your child to tell you if anything in a game makes them uncomfortable.
11. Laws we follow
This policy is designed to meet our obligations under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021) and UAE Federal Law No. 3 of 2016 on Child Rights, the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation, the UK Age Appropriate Design Code, and the families and children's policies of Apple's App Store and Google Play.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle children's information in a material way, we will update this page and, where required, ask for parental consent again before the change applies to your child.
